Gripping tightly on the hand rims of his wheelchair and feet placed firmly on the footplates, the blue haired teen pushed himself forward. It was a lot of work, but he had no choice. The temperature outside was moderate, not to hot or too cold, but it wasn’t cool enough for his housemate, apparently. He had asked the other if he could go out and had been denied that privilege. That wasn’t going to stop him, though! The moment his companion got in the shower, he was off to FREEDOM~!
Only, he hadn’t really thought much on that matter before charging off into the outdoors, like where would he be going and what he’d be doing. He couldn’t go to the beach! That would be the first placed Kaiden would look for him and being found by Kaiden was the last thing he wanted. He’d probably take him home and make him go back inside, but Eden didn’t want to go inside. He wanted to be outside, in the sunshine and the crisp air! Ah~ Living on a rural peninsula was so great!
Slowing down, he took the chance to catch him breath and observe his surroundings. The trees that scattered the green landscape had grown more numerous and were more densely clustered together. The eighteen year old realized he was getting closer to the mountains. It would get harder to go any further if he kept going in that direction… Blue optics scanned the trees, looking for a path of any sort. He huffed out a breath, crossing his arms over his chest. No fair! There wasn’t enough space anywhere.
Hmm… Well, it was difficult for him, but he WAS capable of walking with his own two feet. Usually it was simpler to just rely on his wheelchair and save himself the effort, but it wasn’t looking like he’d be able to continue if he stayed in the device. Creases formed on his brow as his determination painted itself on his features. He could do this! Eden knew he could manage without the dumb chair! It wasn’t needed! Hoisting himself from the chair, he got to his feet. T-this was it!
He could feel his legs shaking beneath his weight, not used to supporting his weight after all the time spent sitting in that wheeled contraption. The boy took the moment to steady himself before taking a hesitant step forward and then another, slowly gaining confidence. Oh good, his body was going to be nice to him today. He breathed a sigh of relief and set out into the forested area. With each step, he mentally cheered himself on and it took a while before it hit him. …where was he even going?

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #61605f;font-size: 10px;] He'd told Eden early to just stay there. It was hot outside, and he couldn't have him just go out on his own in that sort of weather. Who knows what'll happen to him? There had been times that Eden had fainted when they went out in such heat, and Kaiden wanted to make sure that wasn't going to happen again. At least the heat this time wasn't that intense, but it could still cause some fainting spells for the other boy. But Eden was stubborn, he knew. He wanted to go out, and Kaiden would just have to hope that when he'd listen to Kaiden for once. Maybe it was wrong to have left him. No, no, he had to trust Eden! ... Even if he was more likely to disregard his statement.
Kaiden got out of the shower after a while, a towel around his waist, having dried his hair somewhat, bangs sticking against his forehead. Ah, maybe he should have it cut at some point. He'd have to ask Eden about that. Huh, it was quiet. Maybe he fell asleep? "Eden?" he called out, as he went down the hallway to his room. Shit, he had a bad feeling about this. The blond quickly changed, putting on his pants and a shirt, not even bothering to dry off his hair. "Eden?" His voice was louder, opening his room. Empty. He tried the study - still empty. Empty kitchen, empty dining room, empty, empty, empty.
That idiot.
Without a second thought, Kaiden quickly got out of the house. He couldn't have gone somewhere far. He did say he was going to get some fresh air or something. Maybe ... the beach? That was his favorite place, after all. Right, he should be there! Just as he was about to walk towards the beach - he spotted it. Tracks left by Eden's wheelchair. Thank god for that. Kaiden turned in his heel and followed the tracks on the ground. Where was he planning on going? This was the direction to the mountains, and he couldn't possibly wheel himself up there.
... There was no way he would, right?
Kaiden's steps grew faster, and then -- then he saw him! There was no mistaking that blue hair, that small frame and definitely not the wheelchair he left behind. "Eden! Eden, what are you doing?" he called out, rushing towards the other boy.[/style] | template by pianissimo of btn and ote |

Each tentative step brought him further away from his wheeled prison and with the growing distance, his confidence flared up. This wasn’t so bad! A little draining, but he wasn’t having too hard a time. Eden was capable of walking, but he was so used to being seated and relying on those steel and rubber wheels to move himself around. It was easy to forget. Of course, it was also easy to forget the reason he relied so heavily on his wheelchair. It wasn’t long before he remembered why.
His legs were already beginning to be weighed by weariness and his breathing wheezing in his chest tight chest. Nothing was making him change his mind though, even if he wasn’t entirely sure where he was heading or anything of that matter. He could do this! Independence was something in his grasp and he could reach it if he was persistent enough, but… His determination wavered. Where was Kaiden when he needed him? He would have liked to be carried the rest of the way. .. to wherever.
The familiar voice caught his attention. He turned his head to glanced over his shoulder, catching sight of the blonde quickly gaining on him. To say he was disappointed wasn’t entirely correct, in fact, he was conflicted between the former and relief. “Going for a walk,” He spoke, struggling to get the words out through his catching breath. Whoa… His hand flew out, looking for the nearest structure to support himself with which turned out to be a tree. Mm, that was better.
He let the tree support him as he breathed, trying to recover from such a strenuous activity, well, at least it was for him. “What are you doing here?” He asked finally. After taking the moment to regain himself, he was feeling much better. At least, in his standards. “I thought you were taking a shower.” Riiiiiiiiiiiiight, it had been nearly forty-five minutes since he had gotten his chance to strike out on his little escapade. People didn’t normally take that long of showers. “How’d you find me?”

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #61605f;font-size: 10px;] If this wasn't Eden, he'd be a lot more annoyed and angry. He'd have made sure they stayed at home and probably never kept his eyes off them. But this was Eden. Ever since then, he'd always been weak to the boy. He wanted something to eat, Kaiden would get it for him. Whenever he went back home, he always had something for Eden - let it be an interesting flower he found or an interesting-looking bone. And since he'd moved back to the town, and Eden had moved in with him, he'd been pretty much doing everything for Eden. He'd tried to be firm, of course, but Eden usually won. If they couldn't go somewhere he wanted that day, Kaiden would try to cheer him up by giving him food or telling him adventure stories. Anything to make him happy.
Ah, he was so whipped, he knew that. But he really needed to be a lot more firm with Eden. Especially if he was doing stupid things like these. And it didn't even look like he would last long. The worry grew even more, as Kaiden saw him place a hand on a nearby tree, as if keeping himself propped up. Ugh, what an idiot. He was so frustrating sometimes ... and yet Kaiden didn't have the heart to get too angry with him. Maybe just mildly. That's right.
"I already had a shower. ... That was sneaky, going out while I was in the bath." His tone carried a bit of disappointment, eyes narrowed at Eden as he walked closer towards him. And why shouldn't he be? He trusted Eden to listen to him when he said that. After all, he took care of him. All the time, and this was what he'll do? Tch, how annoying. Kaiden was normally incredibly patient with him, but he felt like he was being taken for granted.
And yet he couldn't stay mad. No matter what. "Your chair left tracks so I followed it." Kaiden walked up to him, heaving a sigh. "You don't look too good. Were you planning to do this the entire way?" He narrowed his eyes at him again, as if reprimanding Eden without words. Scratching his head, he gave another sigh. Kaiden then moved to crouch in front of Eden, his back facing to him before he looked towards him. "Come on, get on my back. You already came this far, anyway." Keeping his gaze leveled on the blond, he tried to keep any hint of his discomfort from his face, but in all honestly, it was hard. He had never quite mastered a poker face and it was very easy to read his features as if every thought and emotion was spelled out in big, red letters. Or maybe that was just with Kaiden? He did spend a lot of time with the blond, so much time that it was hard to do anything and not have him know. Seriously, it was like Kaiden could read his mind.
While he enjoyed that aspect of Kaiden, it was also really, really frustrating and especially when he had his mind particularly set on doing something himself on a particular day. Kaiden just knew he was struggling with the idea of giving up and asking for help or continuing to try for himself. Then he’d just help him and then Eden would just get irritated. Like the present moment, that blond just showed up when he needed him, but at the same time, he wasn’t ready to ask for help.
It was painfully obvious that he just couldn’t go any further despite how badly he wanted to prove his body wrong, his sudden dependence on the tree for support confirming it. He could try! Why wouldn’t anyone just let him try? Well, keep trying. They did let him try for a short time before they got impatient. It was so annoying, but he really couldn’t get annoyed at Kaiden. There was something about the other man that was like… impossible to be annoyed with. He could be mad at him, but… very briefly.
“It was the only chance I had to go out.” He replied evenly. The note of disappointment tinting his housemate’s voice pained him, but… He wanted to go outside and Kaiden wouldn’t let him! “It’s not that bad outside,” His stubbornness apparent in his tone. Willing his legs to keep him standing, Eden let his arms move to fold across his chest and not be used for supporting himself. “So I figured it wouldn’t hurt to go outside.” He puffed out his cheeks and wore the pout he loved too much.
“….It left tracks?” The blue haired teen huffed. “I should have just walked!” Well, if he had walked, then he probably wouldn’t have made it very far considering in the condition he was in after just walking a few feet. “I look fine!” … Actually, he knew the blond was right, but he didn’t want to agree. It was bad enough that look kept crossing, the one that disapproved of Eden’s stubbornness and also scolded him without words. It left his face soon, much to his relief.
He gave a sigh of his own, watching his companion draw closer and kneel down to offer his back to the eighteen year old. … Well, it was better than walking, Eden supposed. “Alright.” He conceded. Eden climbed onto the blond man’s back, draping his arms over his shoulders and adjusting himself until he lay comfortably against him. Hell would freeze over before he admitted it, but he really enjoyed being carried around by Kaiden. It was nice. “We’re not going home, are we?”

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #61605f;font-size: 10px;] Ah, he was way too stubborn. And proud. Especially proud. He could always tell when Eden didn't like him fussing over him. It was pretty obvious, the way he'd frown and look at him as if he committed some sort of huge sin against him. ... Granted, he didn't even do it all the time. Sometimes it felt like Eden wanted him to take care of him, even if he acted otherwise. He'd act annoyed at first, but eventually warm up to the idea. He really couldn't tell with Eden. One minute he hated him helping, and another minute, Eden wanted him to help with his bath. Ah, why was he this way? And why did he always end up not getting mad at him?
Even when he said things like "it was my only chance to go out." How sneaky. And especially stubborn.
"Right, right, sure it isn't," he said with another sigh, running his hand through his hair. He watched as Eden struggled to prop himself up on his feet, arms crossed in front of him. Okay, he wasn't going to deny he was a bit worried, but he stood his ground. "You're acting like a kid right now, you know." Ah, but he couldn't help the way his lips crooked up into a smile, nor the hint of affection in his voice. Kaiden quickly willing a frown on his face (because he was till mad at Eden, alright! He wasn't about to leave him like this! He was going to end up spoiled -- not that he wasn't already). He gave another sigh at Eden's insistence that was he was fine. He wasn't. Kaiden knew he wasn't. Eden knew he wasn't. And yet he insisted. Ugh, he was so frustrating sometimes.
Kaiden was just glad he actually consented to riding on his back. The small 'alright' he gave made Kaiden smile a little, crouching down as he felt Eden drape his arms over his shoulder and his body against him. Ah, this was better. A compliant Eden was definitely better (although he did think he'd miss the stubborn one -- maybe he was some sort of masochist?). When he heard Kaiden's question, the blond gave the other boy a smile, shaking his head, despite not turning his head around. "Nah. I think you'd just be even more difficult if we did now. But you better tell me if you aren't feeling well, alright?" His tone was lighter now. Probably because Eden had stopped being stubborn.
Hooking his hands under Kaiden's legs (and making sure he was holding onto him securely), Kaiden stood up, adjusting Eden behind him. "So, where were you trying to go?" he asked, even as he started walking off. "Maybe you'd want to go up the mountain?" [/style] | template by pianissimo of btn and ote |

It was funny how things worked out. Since the accident, he had an exceptionally hard time accepting anyone fussing over him like some helpless child, yet here he was with Kaiden. He whined constantly about becoming independent and about how no one would let him. The blue haired teen had even left his parent’s home to prove that he could be independent but where was he? Eden was living with Kaiden and completely contradicting himself.
Although he did it more often than not, it wasn’t like he intended to send all those conflicting messages to Kaiden. It just happened. Sometimes he felt more capable and other times he felt completely and utterly helpless. No matter how he felt, he still stubbornly fought to show he could be self-reliant. “It isn’t!” He gave another huffy breath. “No I’m not!” He wasn’t acting like a kid! How could he say that? “You’re so impossible sometimes!”
At the sight of the smile that appeared on his lips and the note of affection tinting his voice then the frown that tried to hide it, Eden calmed down a bit. When Kaiden made that forced attempt to be angry at him, it made him feel a little satisfied yet he never understood why. Maybe it was the obviousness of the whole endeavor? The boy wasn’t sure, but he was happy to have the blond, even if he was a worrywart. “You’re going to give yourself a heart attack with all your obsessive worrying.”
Regardless of his stubbornness and his insistence that he was fine, Eden couldn’t deny (at least to himself) that he wasn’t alright. His body was as frail as they come and though it pained him to admit it, he was already feeling terrible. And… well, being carried was nice. Just the idea of Kaiden’s satisfied expression should he ever admit that aloud made him scowl. Sure, he’d bend to the blonde’s wishes whenever it really came down to it, but he never gave the other that satisfaction of hearing it.
“Good.” The blue-haired teen tightened his grip around his shoulders and locked his legs around his chest as he was secured on Kaiden’s back. He.. He kind of felt like some kind of monkey or marsupial, latched on to its mother’s back. The image would have made him giggle, but it was kind of embarrassing to. “Fiiiiine.” He answered and a smile slipped on his face. Kaiden wasn’t too bad. “I’m not sure exactly,” Eden replied honestly. “I think I was going to the mountains though.”

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #61605f;font-size: 10px;] People have commented he spoiled Eden too much. Bringing him around town, putting up with his selfishness, cooking the food he wants -- it was an endless list. But Kaiden never really minded. He'd never thought Eden was too spoiled (even if he did feel it at times, but he shook away that thought). He was always patient with Eden, although he did try to be stern at times. He had to, if he was supposed to keep Eden at bay. At least he didn't take advantage of his kindness ... right? No no, Eden would never do that. He was probably too childish to do so - and naive. Kaiden didn't have to worry about that at all. All he had to worry about was Eden running off because Kaiden was smothering him. While he had heard Eden comment about it, Kaiden always thought it was just because he was mad at him. But now ... he wondered if he really would run away if things didn't go how he wanted them to?
But it always felt like Eden would never leave him. Even with the huff, even with the pout, even with insistence, he still accepted Kaiden's offers of help. He'd allow him to help him take a bath, he'd allow him to cook for him, heck, he allowed himself to live with Kaiden (even if he did nothing in return), and now he allowed himself to let Kaiden carry him. Ah, he was making progress today! Sometimes it felt like when he felt like Eden was finally listening to him for good, he'd go right back to his stubborn personality. Maybe Eden was just confusing. Granted, it wasn't as if Kaiden wanted him to stop being him. Eden wasn't Eden if he wasn't stubborn.
He could be really cute when he was complying like this, though. He always noticed Kaiden could feel his mood getting lighter when he felt Eden on his back, latching onto him. Maybe he was just easy? Kaiden knew he could be a pushover when it came to Eden, and he knew he aimed to please that boy sometimes (even during his travels), so maybe ... ah. He might have a problem.
Well, whatever! As long as Eden was here, it was fine.
At Eden's response, Kaiden gave a laugh. "You were making me worry so much and you had no idea where you were going?" It was an amusing idea, a smile on Kaiden's face as he continued walking along. Ah, he could go to the mountains from here. He took that road, slowly starting to make his way to the mountains. "Hm, it would've been nice if we had food to eat up there, though." Ah, well. He'd been able to survive without food for a while! "You really should listen to me sometimes, you know. It would be pretty nice." He didn't sound mad, at least, a less reprimanding tone in his voice as he said so. [/style] | template by pianissimo of btn and ote |

He’d heard it too often that he was spoiled by his blond haired “caretaker” and that he should, well, stop giving into the younger boy. In his own opinion, the blue haired boy was far from being spoiled, in fact, he was denied most things that he wanted and didn’t get his way as much as he should have! Sure, that may have sounded a bit—okay, that did sound very selfish, but Eden was sure he was entitled to be. …A little bit, anyways. He did go overboard with it, didn’t he? Kaiden didn’t seem to mind.
Actually, his blond housemate seemed accepting of all of Eden’s so-called “faults”, although, Eden liked to think of them as “adorable” mistakes, but he really hoped Kaiden would never call them as such. Calling them “faults” made him feel … Well, he wasn’t entirely sure. And the blonde labeling them as adorable wasn’t any better. However, he could tell there were moment where he wore on Kaiden’s patience and they had their fights, but they got along well. So his “mistakes” weren’t really that terrible! Right?
Besides, there were times when Kaiden was so overbearing and by far, worse than his parents ever were, but he managed to get over it! So the blonde would just have to accept him as he was because he had no desire to go elsewhere… and well, he didn’t even know why. He’d left his parents’ house without a second though, but after winding up on Kaiden’s door step, the thought never occurred to him. He liked being around Kaiden despite being a pain to him.
Every now and again, it was nice to cut the stubborn act and just cave to Kaiden, too. It was hard always fighting for his independence or just fighting against Kaiden for stupid reasons, although, it could be counted as confusing when he did that. Like now as he clung to his housemates back, resting his head against his shoulder. He could have refused and charged forward, but he had chosen to concede. “I just wanted to be outside.” Eden mumbled. “Maybe next time.”
Food would have been nice, wouldn’t it? But. If Eden hadn’t gone out like he had and done what he had wanted to do, then would they even be walking up to the mountains? Or even enjoying the day? Probably not. His stubbornness did have its benefits. “Mm, maybe.” He replied, softly. “But if I always listened to you, we wouldn’t be here now.” It was a good thing Kaiden had come when he did, it really was. He wouldn’t have lasted long walking on his own. He was already so worn out. Well, he’d recover shortly.

[STYLE=margin: 70px 30px 30px 30px; text-align: justify; color: #61605f;font-size: 10px;] No, he was definitely spoiled, albeit Kaiden didn't want to think that way. In his opinion, he was doing fine living with Eden. He was holding his ground (sometimes), and he let him have his fun (sometimes). He couldn't understand when Eden says he was being too much. Kaiden always figured he'd given Eden enough freedom. He didn't want to be like his parents, but he didn't want Eden to be too free. God knows what he'd get up to. He'd just walk all over Kaiden and end up wheeling himself off to god knows where. ... Like now. Maybe he really was too soft on him. But Kaiden couldn't bear not letting Eden do what he wants sometimes. He didn't want to confine him to the house or to his chair.
... Okay, fine, he was a bit overbearing. But it didn't seem like Eden hated it! If he did, he'd just run away like what he did with his parents, right? Oh god, Kaiden wouldn't be able to cope with that. Probably why he was soft with Eden. He couldn't bear it if Eden just up and decided he didn't want to stay with him anymore. He liked the boy and his presence, and he figured if he left ... it would just be ... lonely. Very lonely. Even if majority of the time Eden was whining at him. Or refusing to back down (somewhat).
Kaiden gave a sigh. He should have expected Eden to say that. "Fine, fine, I'll let it go." As he usually does anyway. "But be sure to listen to me at times, alright? If I didn't get to you in time, you'd probably have continued walking until you passed out." He wouldn't doubt Eden'd do that. Kaiden had always suspected Eden would push himself no matter what if it meant asserting his independence. He was a stubborn one, and while it was endearing at times, at most, it was a hazard. To Eden and Kaiden.
"We could have gone out some other time! And brought food. Ah, we should have a picnic when the weather's nice." He smiled at the thought. A picnic, huh? It did sound nice. Kaiden often brought out Eden with food, but never up in the mountain. It could be fun, and relaxing. Not to mention Eden would be surrounded by nature instead of his dreary house. Mm, he'd try to make that happen. Maybe on the boy's birthday.
It took a while but they were finally close to the top of the mountain. Kaiden gave a smile when he saw the familiar scenery. He liked to go up here. It reminded him of his days as an adventurer - he did miss traveling, but he liked staying with eden. And taking care of him. Even if it wasn't as exciting, it was equally difficult. "Here we are!" he called out, panting a little as they finally reached the top. Kaiden gave a grin before moving to the side, kneeling down to let Eden get off under a nearby tree. There were times when a person had to admit their limits, but for the blue-haired boy, it was opposite. Acknowledging that he had any limitations was something he refused to do (out loud) and he would sooner declare his undying love to someone (Kaiden) than that. Until the day he simply couldn’t breathe, he would continue to fight for his freedom. Admittedly it was nice to be carried and doted on like presently but his pride wouldn’t allow it very often. He still knew when to call it quits (although that was questionable).
Weariness often had a way of winning over his pride and usually resulted in his cooperation being more easily gained. It was part of the reason he had yet to demand Kaiden set him down, instead enjoying the warmth radiated over him from the older man back. There were times he envied Kaiden’s health. Even before the fire, he was asthmatic and couldn’t do all the things he watched the blond do. With him being worse off than before, he couldn’t just sit by and take it easy. He had to make the most of life.
It wasn’t as though he were a terminal patient, yet there was something about coming that close to death that opened one’s eyes. That wasn’t fully his reasons though. Everyone around him seemed to get twice as overbearing and it just got exhausting after a while. He hated not being able to do anything for himself. He had to give Kaiden credit for not always confining him to his bed or wheelchair, although he could tell that was what he would prefer. “Good.” Eden smirked.
“Hm, I’ll try. But don’t expect much. If I think you’re being unreasonable, I’m not going to listen.” He stated with a huff. Eden’s definition of “unreasonable” applied to more than just ridiculous requests. He didn’t even bother to dispute what the blond had claimed. The boy was well aware of how true those words were. His stubbornness was extreme at times and it happened to be one of those moments. He averted his gaze to the side. “I guess.” It was as close to an agreement as Kaiden was going to get even though Eden saw his point.
The ride up the mountain path was relaxing aside from Kaiden’s scolding. Eventually he relented and Eden was able to rest quietly until they reached the top. He closed his eyes for a moment, focusing just on the soft sounds of the mountain. They were almost lulling. If he wasn’t being carried, he could have let himself take a small nap but he was and he forced himself to stay awake. He wasn’t that tired anyways. At Kaiden’s word, he opened his eyes and crawled off his back. “Finally.” He mumbled through a yawn.
